Where to begin
For a long time, I’ve wanted a place to drop my thoughts about the industry, ideas I can’t build but want to see happen, and everything else. Over the years, I’ve tried WordPress, Webflow, and Framer—never really wanting to pay for a monthly subscription and not wanting the build to be too complex. I also didn’t want to use a service like Substack because not everyone needs a newsletter, and my writing would be too sporadic to retain readers. I always wanted to build something myself—keeping it simple and evolving it over time to suit my needs—or a place to drop experiments.
I started my career years ago with the title of “web designer.” This roughly translated to designing everything in Photoshop and then building the sites from scratch—hacking my way to completion using tutorials, making tons of mistakes, and really not knowing what I was doing. Later, I was fortunate to join teams with great developers who could take my questionable designs and make them happen, so I stopped developing.
Fast-forward to not that long ago, and the rapid advancement of AI in our daily lives has brought things full circle. That’s where this site comes in. I started building it in Jekyll since it seemed straightforward with a quick turnaround, but it was suggested that I use Astro instead—I was told it’s perfect for what I’m looking to build.
Thanks to AI help, someone like me, with barely any React or other coding knowledge, can build, style, and publish this site.
Talk to y’all soon.
